the nightmare before christmas eve

'twas the nite before christmas eve
in Myers World Headquarters
not a creature was stirring
even the boys were following orders.

all the food was to be prepped with care
because soon the family would all be there
but what do we find to a sudden fright
the 'fridge is out and been out for 3 nights!

off we go to the 24 hour wal-mart
i even got to ride in one of those motor carts
(those are slow, by the way)
we got all we needed and needed all we got
trust me, filling a 'fridge really takes a lot.

christmas eve went off without a hitch
even tho someone's always gotta be a witch
the kids, the paper, the bows, the presents
maybe next year, someone will be a little more pleasant.

in the end:
i think all the families and friends enjoyed their trip
i even heard mention of wanting more SPINACH DIP!
_________________________________________

but wait, there's more. even after the wally-world trip, we got home and got everything put up, we took naps. the garage door was open and somehow the side door opened as well. ringo and rosco got out. at midnite, we're scouring the neighborhood for our dogs. tears in our eyes and lumps in our throats.

they came home after hearing us yell out for them, i think, or after they heard the truck. nightmare before christmas eve, indeed.

conversations

while driving around, looking at lights:

HM: it's this way.

me: no, it's this way.

HM: i'm telling you, it's this way.

me: i know where i'm going. geesh!

a few seconds pass...

me: see, i told you it was this way.

Woz: oh, look at that. she was right. a girl was right, guys!

Jim: IT'S A CHRISTMAS MIRACLE!

......

boys are stupid.

weekend update/recap

fun weekend.

friday - picked up Princess for the nite. she came over and while her uncle HM continued painting the living room, she and i made ornaments and magnets. she made some as gifts and they came out really cute. i would show you pictures, but she took ALL of them with her. well, all but one of each. my ornament and Addie's gift. uh, guess what you're getting from Princess, Addie?

after a quick game of truth or dare, in which someone ended up in the dryer, we turned in kinda early cuz we had to get up at the butt crack-o-dawn on saturday.

saturday morning - we got moving and out of the house by 8:05. we had to be at elves and more by 9:00. after a shipley's run and a drive through intense fog, we actually got there on time. and then had to wait in line. a Blondie song comes to mind here. anyways, after watching a video we didn't need to watch (because that was the bike building part), we scurried over to the gift wrapping area. we spent a good two hours being ordered around by senior volunteers and wrapping gifts.

i'm trying to teach the kids about volunteering and "giving back". i took Booger to the same thing (to build bikes) a couple of years ago. he backed out this year and since i could only take one kid (per adult) Princess belted out, immediately, that she wanted to go in his absence. i think she had a good time and maybe she felt like she was doing a good deed.

i did my part, tho. i explained to her the importance of trying to help others, as Addie had done once before. the message being that although you're not always able to help out monetarily, sometimes it's just as good to help out with your time. maybe she got it, maybe she didn't. maybe she was just happy to be somewhere new. who knows?

after lunch and a bit of shopping, we got home early enough that uncle HM was able to torture her just a bit more before she left.

saturday evening - Woz came over for "christmas light cruising". Jim came over, too. we had a blast! we pulled back Sadie's top, took the side windows down and off we went. we cruised around our neighborhood and the neighborhoods we almost bought in. Jim and HM had to crawl into the back seat. that, in itself, was fun to watch!

we were out for about two hours, i guess, with pit-stops back at the house and some random boat launch for the boys with the bladders of 8-year old girls. we cruised around checking out all the cool lights and just laughing. at. everything. i don't even know what was so funny. it just was. of course, the booze we drank before-hand might have helped.

sunday - it was a pretty lazy day. HM finished painting the living room. it's frikkin' GORGEOUS! i love it! it makes the fireplace just POP! now. and my wreath looks pretty good on it, too. =)

we also did some grocery shopping for christmas eve. it's at our house this year. yeah, the family didn't waste no time pushing it on to someone new to host. i'm glad we're doing it at our place, tho. we're having ALL the family there... with all the extended family, we're up to 22 people now. i'm so glad his family will be there and we get to see PB (my newest nephew)! it's gonna be cool cuz he'll be around other kids that will be just as excited as he is. *warm fuzzies*

until next time, i'm sweet t and you're not.

(s)Elf portrait day

Princess and Uncle HM

last nite was Princess's christmas program. something about "incredible reindeer" or something. i'm not sure. it was a full 40 minutes of christmas carols, kids messing up their lines, and big headed people getting in my shot. ah, good times.
.
Princess was the Blizzard Elf. don't ask, cuz i don't know. HM told her she was named after a Dairy Queen treat and proceeded to turn her upside down to see if she would fall out. he seriously thot he had hurt her, she screamed so loud. baby.
.
i have video of the program, but that's for later. they had some dance moves... well, not "dance" moves, but moves none the less. the kinda jay and silent bob move where you go side-to-side with the ghetto head. you know the one. anyways, she KNOWS that move. i taught her that move! and what does she do? she takes on the "ghost of her mom's dance moves past"! good god, man! not to say that the child has a whole lot of rhythm to begin with, but she KNOWS that move! she was totally cute, tho. i'll have to show it on christmas eve for everyone to see.
.
that should be fun... right?

do they know it's christmas?

The original Band-Aid was put together in 1984, by Bob Geldof and some lady from Ultravox. there has since been two others. two others that could not possibly reach the success or equal talent as the original. they were Band Aid II in 1989 and Band Aid 20 in 2004.

reading up in wikipedia, i never knew that David Bowie was originally intended to sing the first lines of the song. lines that were sung by Paul Young because Bowie could not attend.

i've seen all three videos. they all try to re-create the "magic" in the studio. it just doesn't do it for me. i know it's done for a good cause but the original version really rocked it and they should just keep re-releasing that one instead of trying to get new folks to do it. of course, i'm old and there are younger folks who would like to see their favorites belt out a tune for charity as well as i did.

i remember watching the video and being dreamy-eyed over George Michael (like i knew he was gay?). it was also in the days when Bono was cool and pre-blu blocker sunglasses. i also thot Bananarama was really cool and wanted to name my kid Siobhan (shaddup!) for the longest time. to round off the favorites were Boy George, Spandau Ballet, and Sting. how can you not love Sting?

so, here's the one, the only, the original Band-Aid like no other. enjoy.

i'm a frikkin' genius!!

yes. yes, i am. please hold your applause.

how many people do you know, have ONE remote to control them all? NONE, that's how many. cuz even if they have the tv programmed they still always have to use the tv remote to control the sound. i am the time warner remote control master!

last nite was project nite. while HM was painting our living room, with a shade of red that will need at least 10 coats, i opted for a more "not painting" project.... setting up the DVR. santa came early cuz i've been a good girl. =)

it started out as just plugging it in and calling the number to sync it or whatever. but after that, i started reading the instructions on the remote. oh, i always knew there were volume controls on cable remotes. i just never knew you could actually use them. you can! admit it, every house you go to has at least 2 remotes if not more. one for the cable box the other for the volume and then the dvd, vcr, blah blah blah.

we have only the dvd hooked up to our main tv but that, too, has been programmed. yay me! so, we now have DVR. we also have the tv and dvd player AND ALL VOLUME control going thru the cable remote. no more remotes needed. just the one. i'm a god!

you may applaud now.

p.s. this applies to everyone except steph, cuz she has a programmer husband who probably invented the damn thing in the first place! ;o)

boat parade

i put together a little of the video from the boat parade this weekend. it was a very rushed job. i only did it so quickly for a collaboration on vimeo. that means, one of the members is collecting all kinds of christmas light videos from different members and he'll put them all together into one video. it's my first collaboration in the vimeo community. i kinda got warm fuzzies for submitting my own.

side note on vimeo: it's not
YouTube! people on vimeo are very friendly and there are very rarely any crass remarks about anything. it's all original work (nothing taken from cable) and the members are very creative (ahem, i'm trying). they give each other "pats on the back" for their creative processes and so forth. so, if you're into video (which i'm getting more and more into), you should check it out.

p.s. i've added a sidebar for my vimeo collections, if you want to check out others.

weekend update/recap

friday - cleaned up some to get ready for the weekend. we were in bed by 9:00, if not earlier. we both had early days on saturday.

saturday - got up early. and by early, i mean before noon on a saturday. not cool. did some more cleaning up, went to get dv's for the digicam and got groceries and cookie makin' stuff for cookie makin' day.

mamalane came over and we baked a BUNCH of cookies! we figured it might go alot easier if we baked them before everyone got here. guess what? it worked out pretty well.

saturday nite - we went to watch the boat parade. pretty cold. pretty anti-climactic. good enough to see once. next year, we may go back to 'Lights in the Heights'.

sunday - the kids came over to decorate cookies! they were here for less than three hours, but good god, it was a long day. it was 5:00 and we were already drained.

wow! this weekend was really pretty full, but i think it must have been my shortest update yet.

i think we've started a new tradition of cookie decorating. we did the halloween cookies and now the christmas cookies. what's next? maybe easter cookies? hmmmmm....

until next time, i'm sweet t and you're not.

the Mtv we all know and love

last nite i received some of my records. okay, i got two of them. well, four really but they were two of each song. anyways... one of them was Billy Squier's 'Christmas is the time to say I Love You'. ah, reminiscing.

here's the video with all the old VJ's... Mark with his white 80's afro, Martha and her no rhythm having self, Triple J who never got the fact that he was actually black, and Nina...Nina Blackwood who i will always remember as a hooker, from a movie called Vice Squad, with a pimp named RamRod. i can't even tell you how many times S1 and i watched that movie. seriously...it was ALOT!

the smile on my face is so huge right now just from remembering the 'good ol' days'... and how totally hot we thot Billy Squier was!

the other record i received was the Waitresses 'Christmas Wrapping'. bonus cuz the other side has 'I know what boys like'. good for year 'round playing. alas, no video of that song. but really, how could you even enjoy another video after THIS ONE?!?!?

spd da gurls

the other nite, i was able to hang with "da gurls". how do you catch up with someone you rarely see, all in the matter of a few hours? sharky came in for a quick layover on her trip to Belize so we went to dinner. Sharky, Lil Bo PeeP, Sweet Cheeks, DD (not a girl), and myself all met out and proceeded to have one of the better girls nite out i've had in a while.

i should also mention that since Sharky has moved to Holland, we've been able to see her, at least, three times this year therefore dubbing 2006 as "The Year of the Shark". it was alot harder coming from Australia. i was never good at geography, so what do i know.

after DD went home, we went back to SC's. i'm not sure what was in the margaritas but for the rest of the nite, we could NOT stop singing "cool rider" from Grease 2. i should also mention LBP and myself knew ALL the lyrics! how gay are we???

it was a good nite. a pleasant nite. one that made me even more appreciative of the great friends i have... even if they do tend to "slip out" every once in a while. i have a few pictures from that nite, but even better, i have more video. video of a cooooooool rider! that will FOR SURE be up next week! why else to have a blog, other than to humiliate your friends?

i don't have those pictures with me right now. i had to transfer and delete so i could get even MORE video of my husband giving me a class on washing machine mechanics 101. for now, here's a picture of 'da gurls' circa 2004, at LBP & DD's wedding.

Sharky, Sweet Cheeks, LBPeeP, and me

p.s. May 2008 marks Sharky's return to the states. That has been dubbed, Cinco De Sharky!

jingle bell rock

these are for S1. i know she's going totally ape-shit as she reads this now. i tried to get her the 45 for it, but the ONE site that had it wanted $20 for it. $20! for a RECORD! geesh! i got her the next best thing... and it was FREE!

apparently, there are two versions of this video. they have one video each for lead vocals. can you say, "ego" boys and girls?

weekend/holiday update

this weekend marked the "thanksgiving weekend" holiday. it wasn't a very big deal. HM has wanted some down time lately and being the big bad mean wife that i am, i asked him to spend some time with my family. S1 invited us after she found out we weren't going to Conroe. i missed the last "family" get together at easter, because my family likes to plan stuff at the last minute. i hate when i miss the kids doing fun stuff. i know... it's gonna happen again, but i just like to be there for the most of it, while they're young and still like me. i like to be there for the things that i can. that's what mexicans do! we like to see each other. we like to spend time with family. especially for a holiday. nobody's rushed to get home or get their kids to a tournament or game. we get to actually spend time together and talk. i know i see my family more than most, but that's why i choose not to make the move to Houston. i would die if i didn't get to see the kids at least once a week. i once toyed with the idea of moving to austin. this was about 11-12 years ago. technology hadn't come as far, back then, and there were no webcams. i actually looked into the video-phone. they were brand new and EXPENSIVE! but i was willing to pay for it to talk to my Booger and see his chubby little face whenever i could. in the end, i couldn't do it. i couldn't leave my Booger. he could give two craps about me now, but at one time, ONE TIME LONG AGO, i was the shizznit to him and he was the same to me. i couldn't leave. this is how much family means to me. wow... okay, uh, can you say "off the beaten path"?

Honey Bunny, Tori, and Shaggy

anyhoo, we spent a few hours at S1's. BIL1 cooked up some good turkey. as always, S1's stuffing is spectacular! S2 brought some side vittles, including frozen corn with about a tub of butter it was cooked in. Booger was his normal "cheery" self. see below.

Booger, BIL1, BIL2 & S2

friday - we had game nite. there were only five of us, but it was fun. we played I LOVE THE 80'S. it's full of trivia, some that you have to sing or act out or draw. it was entertaining to say the least.

Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting

ET & S1, S2

p.s. i am SO not partnering with S1 again until she watches some more VH1! get on it.

saturday - we went to Gabe's wedding. i got to see some of the team. it was a grand ol' mexican wedding. full of mariachi's and the sort. they had so much fun dancing! i miss mescan dancing. i used to dance alot with my dad (hi daddy!) at weddings and what not. he would spin me a lot. i liked it. i felt like a little mescan ballerina. KIDDING!

check out the bottom of Gabe's shoes. you probably can't see... they say "HELP ME".

Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting

Claudia & Gabe, Dawlett, AfterSchoolSpecial, Lil Bo PeeP

sunday - i went to pick up Booger and his friend to come clean our yard. they were getting paid good money to whack down some dead banana tree leaves and rake the yard. they'll be back when they get out for christmas break.

i also loaded my jukebox! YAY ME! mostly 80's some 70's and CHRISTMAS music. i even had christmas labels printed. cuz i'm cool like that. i ordered a couple of more christmas records last nite; Billy Squier, "christmas is the time to say i love you" and John Lennon, "happy xmas". S1 ordered Band-Aid, "do they know it's christmas time". there are so many more i want, but i'm holding back right now. sadie's almost out of icu and i gotta pay for the transplant.

vimeo is up and running

bonus video, to make up for not being here tomorrow and friday.

last week i picked Princess up from the babysitter. since Sadie is sick, i was in BigRed. since i didn't have my own set of keys with me, i didn't have a key so S1's house. we were stuck in the truck until she got there. this is how we kept entertained.

pretty good baby, pretty good on Vimeo

take it already! on Vimeo

there's more, but that's another post for another time. enjoy.

oh, and HAPPY THANKSGIVING, by the way.

no video

i was trying to post a video of Princess today. Unfortunately, vimeo is down and i can't find any information on when it will be up again.

---------------------------

on another note, safe travels to Addie. she's in NYC right now. enjoying all that she can in 4 days. she'll get to see the Rockettes Christmas Spectacular IN Radio City Music Hall and Wicked while she's there. yay!

come home safely.

HAPPY ANNIVERSARY HM!

today, we have been married for 1 month. it's been the best month of my life!

Monday, November 20, 2006

weekend update/recap

so, this weekend, we really didn't do much...AGAIN. i know, we lead exciting lives, don't we? exciting enough for a married couple, i guess. an OLD married couple. I KID! i love that we stay home and watch really bad TV.

friday - we didn't do a whole lot...that i can remember. i know we wanted to get an early start on saturday, so i'm pretty sure we went to bed early. we've both had really exhausting weeks lately.

saturday morning - up at the butt-crack 'o dawn! i went to help HM out at the store. i was the box fetcher. they were having a
jim shore trunk sale - christmas type stuff and i had to get the box for the piece they bought. i was also the "wassail passer-outer". "would you like some wassail? care for some wassail? wassail anyone?". that was me, that's what i did. all day. well, at least for the morning.

after i fetched lunch for everyone, i kinda hung out in the office and waited for BA to get there. we got a surprise visit from mamalane. hi mamalane! she brought snickerdoodles... snickerdoodles i haven't' seen since they entered the house, come to think of it. she and i went to get a rental while sadie's in the car hospital. she's getting a transplant. in icu now. please pray for a speedy recovery.

BA finally got there and we went straight to the movies. we went to see
BORAT. yes, it's pretty much in the same category with the JACKASS movies, but i just saw that one last month with Booger. i think, to appreciate Borat, you would have maybe needed to watch Da Ali G Show. i did. it just gives you some background on Borat. needless to say, we laughed. we laughed a lot! we both thot it was funny and, of course, we were quoting it for the rest of the weekend. therefore, getting on HM's last nerve.

saturday nite - the three of us (me, HM, & BA) headed back home for dinner. not to go into all the detail, but we ended up eating "someplace new". it was an asian seafood place with a buffet that hadn't been touched since 11am and it smelled like fish. and, no... we didn't take our queue from the NO CARS in the parking lot.

we still had a good time. we were the only ones in the whole place, other than the owner's family (that probably lived downstairs). we sat on the balcony, enjoyed the view, and listened to the music (that we could hear from across the street at 'Deaux).

after we got home, we tried to watch
BEERFEST. my first attempt, their second and third. BA and i fell asleep. HM woke us up to see the 2-second part of them playing mexican aka liars dice. yeah, that was worth it. =)

sunday - it's a beautiful day! the boys started on the shed. Woz and ET came over and hung out with us. the shed now has all the walls and half a roof. good job! they did a great job actually.

the wheels on the bus go round and round

so, the other day i got some flack about being a “hater” and not posting a “decent” picture of Big Gay Al’s Banana Boat Ride, just Al for short. ha, short… get it? short bus. =)

anyways, even though I took the picture from the official Toyota site, S1 feels the website didn’t do Al justice. you know me, never one to disappoint…much. i wanted to make her happy with new pics.

this one is actually similar to the one she sent me yesterday

i thot it really didn’t do it justice, cuz she has bigger tires, so i found this one

still, there was something missing. i thot, maybe if Xzibit came in and did his magic and "pimped" their ride, it could possibly look a little closer to this

we could even get S1 and princess special t-shirts made

for S1 and princess

tho, i’m sure Booger wouldn't mind having something more like this

for now, he’s stuck with “Al”. everybody wave HI to the family!

return of the weekend update

don't get too excited. i may only do it this week and then get lazy again next monday.

first off, let me start by saying you get a bonus video this week. yes, TWO videos! i'll post one tomorrow and the other one on thursday. these were videos that were supposed to make it to the reception, but did not. my creative juices were just drained. sorry. but i completed them both last nite. yay me!

so... here's the update:

friday - started off easily enough by just going grocery shopping. with a detour to Bed, Bath & Beyond and Chili's and Home Depot. we needed a few things for the kitchen and for building the shed. ended with us watching really bad tv that nite.

saturday - HM went to work and i stayed home. S1 and princess came over to show me the new "short bus" they're driving around in now. they got a new yellow Toyota FJ Cruiser. it looks like something that should be named Big Gay Al's Banana Boat Ride, don't 'cha think? we cruised to the grocery store and i even got to drive it! GASP! everything was fine until she freaked out that i parked near the other "lowly" cars. apparently, new car = walk a mile to the front door.

saturday evening - BA finally made it out, after giving my poor HM a scare. poor thing didn't think his wittle fwiend was gonna make it. =) they played around outside, mostly. HM put briskets on. man make fire. *insert grunt here*

sunday - woke up, not to the smell of eggs and bacon, but just plain woke up... the horror! i know. not even one of BA's famous bloody mary's. geesh! what's a girl gotta do to get some alcohol in her system before noon??? j/k (hi mamalane!)

after i made us some egg sandwiches, i jumped on Lappy and the boys continued their quest to build the shed.

we had some good eats, what with all the brisket and sausage and chicken that was on the grill all day. mmm...mmm... good! we have lunches for the week. unfortunately, i was a little pre-occupied with worrying about my honey being on his motorcycle this morning, that i forgot mine.

it was a good weekend. it's always good to see BA and it was an extra bonus being able to make fun of Big Gay Al's Banana Boat Ride. the princess and i decided that their new car be named, Al. that or risk the thot of being dropped off by the "short bus" at school.

thanks for watching. until next time, i'm sweet t and you're not.

spd BIL

this is a pic my new BIL took, at the shack, last summer.

he called last week to welcome me to the family. although, he was at the wedding, we didn't get to talk much. he said he had already considered me his sister and part of the family for quite some time now. it was very touching. he has his moments.

this is a video of me, addie, and sweet cheeks on our way out to the ceremony site. this was about the 100th time addie and i had listened to "you are the sunshine of my life"!

don't mind the super 70's stripe showing on the clip (reminiscent of the pants S1 wore when she was allowed to dress herself for school one day). it will still play if you click on it.

i think the kids had a really good time, tho. it was fun. EXHAUSTING, but fun. oh, and if you're wondering what the white spotted cookie is, that's my ringo-dog... made by HM. =)

random video

this is just something to keep you entertained for the moment.

i haven't watched the bachelor since season 1. i think the majority of girls on that show are drones. i am only watching it this season because my friend, jami (not a drone), is on there. it seems there is a texas rivalry going on as another girl, the self-proclaimed princess, is from nearby Big City. apparently, she's college-educated and does not have tattoos. jami does. she felt she needed to point that out to the bachelor in the last episode.

now.... i've always liked kelly ripa. i liked her when she first came on the scene, as adam chandler's daughter, on All My Children. how many kids did that man end up having??? anyways, she's moved on to bigger and better deals with the regis thing and her sitcom, which, by the way, i do not think is remotely funny. but she makes her "funny" work on regis & kelly. with that funny, she has recapped this week's episode and here it is:

well, it's been crazy busy around these here parts. over the last 2 weekends we've done some shopping for the wedding. and this weekend i had a baby shower to attend, for fellow cycler annebiker, out in BFE. beautiful BFE. i want to live there, with the tall trees and the big huge yards, but i want there to be here. the shower was at her mom's house in magnolia. day trip. we had a really good time and caught up with each other. we even discussed a possible camping trip over the Thanksgiving holiday. YAY! now if i could only get HM to come with.

we also went to see a college buddy of HM's saturday nite. i think he was a college buddy. not real sure now. anyways, he was playing at fitz's. i am not 24 or a skinhead, so i felt a little out of place. we had a good time, tho. they played old school ska. original ska is what i was told.

this week we've been running around doing different things... or just too damn tired to do anything. yesterday, my coworkers gave us a shower. we got a lot of home depot gift cards. YAY! we're getting closer to getting rid of the carpet in the living room. which also means we'll be getting rid of the dog smell in the house. ew.

we also went to get our marriage license, met with our photographer, and did a run-through at the reception site. had to look at the lights and which switch does what. GEEZ those people can talk!! they're wanting to be our non-official wedding planners... wanting to know our seating chart, etc. and they try to tell you everything they've done and everywhere they've gone. they're a little "over-involved" in renting the space out. which is kinda cool, in a way, but geesh!

oh, bad news for me. i tried to surprise HM with engraving his ring. i was going to have "Baby you amaze me" engraved. that's kinda our song... heehee. BUT, his ring is made of titanium. engraving can be done, but it's harder. the manufacturer that we got it from wouldn't do it, tho. =(

tomorrow, i'm going to hobby lobby with my crafty friend, pollie. she's going to help me find something to give lil bit a little leeway on the cake. lil bit is afraid she'll mess up the fondant, somehow, so she wants some backup. we're going to look for something, NOT flowers.

oh, and this weekend are the bachelor/bachelorette parties. his in houston. mine in galveston. no pictures. no pictures because my frikkin camera was sent back AGAIN today!

i gotta go. HM's buggin'. he has to get up early and he's giving me the monkey face.

until next time, i'm sweet t and you're not.

You are sociable, outgoing, energetic, and lively. You prefer to be around people much of the time. Stressful and frustrating situations can sometimes be upsetting to you, but you are often able to get over these feelings and cope with these situations. A desire for tradition does not prevent you from trying new things. Your thinking is neither simple nor complex. To others you appear to be a well-educated person but not an intellectual. People see you as tough, critical, and uncompromising and you have less concern with others' needs than with your own. You like to live for the moment and do what feels good now. air to the throne

a few weeks ago, i had the opportunity to go to happy hour with some old buddies of mine. brandon was down from the 'nati, dustin's wife let him out of the house, and towlie... well, towlie will go anywhere we are.

a while back, we all tried to convince dustin (D-Money) to try out for the vh1 competition, air to the throne. it was an air guitar competition. anytime there was a jukebox and brandon & dustin were anywhere around, boston and/or journey got played. boston was the favorite for air guitar practice.

he didn't tryout. his wife couldn't handle the shame. but here's a little preview of what might have been.

canon sucks!

yes, i got my camera back. yes, the settings were all screwed up. yes, i set it back to 'default settings'.

it will not stop taking BLURRY pictures!! it seems like it has to be in 'macro' mode now, to take any shot within a 5' range! that's just retarded.

i need to call and find out if there's anything else i can do to stop the 'macro shots' but i didn't bring my camera today. i know... shocker.

wish me luck

weekend update/recap

friday - addie came into town and we were supposed to go shopping. it didn't quite pan out that way. she was tired and i was broke. later, we met HM at original ninfa's for dinner. YUM! after that, we went to watch the 'stros make a comeback in the last inning! well, we were there for the whole game, but we really watched the last inning.

saturday - SHOWER DAY! yes, i took one. i had TWO bridal showers on saturday. ain't i loved? we had a "friend" luncheon with most the girls i know and love... and then a "family" shower, later. busy day. BUSY! i had fun, tho. we got a lotta good stuff!! THANK YOU EVERYONE!

i even got a surprise gift from Frisky. she brought me the sunday edition of the chronicle. Portabello, was right on the front page!! Portabello is my cycling buddy. he's on the team. he's part of the core group. he's actually missing a pretty significant mountain bike race just to make it to the wedding. =)

sunday - S1, S2, Princess, Jazzy J and myself went to look for centerpieces. we came up with some pretty good ideas. none of which i wanted to spend that much money on, just to discard later. i mean, really... what the hell are we going to do with 20 round vases after the wedding??? that's what i thot.

HM joined us later. he had a pretty good idea about using beer/serving trays for the centerpieces. same idea for what goes in it, but the tray instead of the vase. i liked it! it's more us. and c'mon, we'll use the trays for SOMETHING.

busy weekend.

until next time, i'm sweet t and you're not.

I GOT MY CAMERA BACK!

WOO-HOO!! LET FREEDOM RING!

i got it back yesterday. the jackasses left it on the front porch for someone to steal! thanks Canon!! thank goodness HM got home early, yesterday.

sorry for the no posts lately. been a little busy planning a little something called, 'THE WEDDING'. i'll update you on that, tho.

monday - picked up my dress
tuesday - bought undergarments for said dress
wednesday - was supposed to look for centerpieces (for the FOURTH(?) time). instead, went to see shaggy's soccer game. that little guy ROCKS on the soccer field! wish i had my camera then!
today - work happy hour to celebrate what we thot would be a 21 million dollar reimbursement from the hurricane billing. turns out there's a 5 mil cap on state funds. we're celebrating anyway.
friday - i'm taking the day off to go shopping with addie. we both need something to wear for the shower(s).

there probably won't be a self-portrait for tomorrow. busy girl. gotta shop (hi HM!). =)

p.s. there were other things i thot about blogging this week. things that i've already forgotten about, in my feeble old age. maybe they'll come back to me and i'll let you know about it next week.

spd i want my camera back!

borrowed the idea from fellow blogger, spoonleg. she looked more like renee zelwegger and natalie portman. you know...GIRLS!

how scary is it that i look more like oliver stone than i do, madonna??? and who the hell is heike drechsler???? of course, i only found the most horrible picture of myself.

reading the fine print

i was reading addie's blog this morning and found out she wanted to be "the next contestant" on What Not To Wear. I am such a good friend that, of course, i submitted her application right away. you should do the same.

but just so we're clear addie, the following paragraph (from the bottom of the application) applies to you:

Applicant agrees to pay all federal, state, and local taxes, including income, use or sales taxes or any other governmental charges imposed on prizes, including the value of any goods or services received and cash gifts, if any, given to me or received by me by reason of my participation in the program and I release and indemnify producer from any liability therefore. I also authorize producer to deduct or withhold any such taxes or charges that require a payment prior to delivery of said prizes, cash or gifts.

no video

i was going to put a sneak peek of our video up. as you can see, there will be no video. i didn't get it uploaded... plus, i think i want to do some tweaking to it. i watched it yesterday and decided it needed a little more "oomph" to it (note to HM: stop rolling your eyes!).

you'll see it. but not just yet. i'll let'cha know.

weekend update/recap

friday - i wanted to order my flowers friday, but ended up working late. no flowers ordered. i did, however, stay in town long enough to have a cocktail and pick up some dinner for mine and HM's anniversary. yes, we celebrate monthly anniversaries of the day we met. yes, we're gay. get over it.

saturday - he went off to work. i gave myself a pedicure and convinced myself i didn't need a new outfit for the nite. that was a tough one.

we took mamalane out for her birthday. i would show you pictures, but i haven't got my camera back. (side note: did i tell you my camera was covered under a recall?) anyways, we went to the melting pot in the woodlands. it's a fondue place. a pretty pricey fondue place. we were okay up until the main course. i think it's safe to say, we were all a little scared after we got our raw meat on a plate. i had no idea this was how it was done. apparently, you put the raw steak, shrimp, or whatever in the burning hot lava fondue for a couple of minutes, then it's done. i gotta say, it was pretty damn good. and OHMIGOD, the ying-yang dessert was YUM! so much for my special k/lean pocket diet 'til the wedding, eh?

sunday - the usual. i really wanted to load up the jukebox and wash sadie. uh...that didn't happen. i was just telling S1, this morning, that when i first got my jukebox, i was totally obsessed with it. always looking for new records and making labels and switching out records and cleaning it. since she got hers, she is now in the cleaning phase of obsession, leaning into the getting new records obsession. oh, by the way, (to S1) i'll give you back your Frankie and The Knockouts, but you will not get Aldo Nova! plus, i don't even thing you gave me Aldo Nova in the first place. maybe you did, but you're still not getting it back. =p

last nite, i did work on a little something for the wedding. HM thot it would be cool to have a dvd collage of us and friends and family to show during the reception. not that everyone will have to watch it all at once, but they'll have the option to check it out and maybe we'll make copies for friends and family to take home. too gay? maybe.

so i finished the "us" part of the movie last nite. those of you who are loyal readers to this site, just may get a glimpse of it this week. i started working on the "friend" part of it and frikkin' Lappy froze up!! i was furious! we've got alot of friends so we had a ton of pictures, that would require more than one song. the first song was a loooong one so for me to be done with that part and have Lappy freeze up... was not good! i lost everything i did on the friends. i'll have to start from scratch again. =(

until next time, i'm sweet t and you're not. have a great week!

weekend update/recap

friday - started off well enough with my boss telling me i was going to work saturday morning, and me telling him, basically, to suck it. it was Handyman's birthday weekend and it was not going to be screwed up by HIM!

friday evening - we really didn't do much, but sit around and hang out at the house. we were ready for a busy birthday weekend so we didn't wanna overdo it.

saturday - HM got up early enough... i got to sleep late. everybody was meeting us at 3:00 at the beach club, except for Frisky and JustInCase. they got to the house about 2-ish. Frisky... i love her! she's just as loud and obnoxious as i am. what's not to love? we made our way to the beach club and met up with everyone else. we had a pirate themed birthday party. aarrrggh matey!

i think everyone had a good time there. there's a swim up bar and we had a really cool waitress that took care of us. everyone got pirate tattoos, pirate earrings, and eye patches!

saturday nite - back at the house, it was more. more birthday. more celebrating. good times.

sunday - we hung out and had BA's famous bloody mary's. well, the guys took the boys out to the lake for some swimming and i slept. then, i got up and had bloody mary's with them. ET came out and bought the boys a swimming pool. we really couldn't get them to embrace the pool, tho. i put ringo in but he just wasn't sloshing around like i thot he would. he got out soon after.

later, we made our way to the greasy spoon hole in the wall (great for wedding dress fittings, i'm sure) for cheeseburgers. after the burgers, we were ready for nap time and movie. we watched talladega nights and the ant bully. typical will ferrell movie, but still pretty damn funny! the ant bully was a cute enough flick.

today - today i did some laundry and worked on the wedding website a little more. i'm contemplating making everyone sign into the guestbook for them to get into it. i know more people have looked at it, but i don't know who. it would be nice to know.

i know the weekend sounded pretty damn boring but it really wasn't. we were pretty busy for the most part, with birthday happenings. i'm really tired and almost ready to go back to work. okay, not that tired.

until next time, i'm sweet t and you're not.

p.s. my camera is saved! canon has a recall for the error i'm getting! YAY!

...and we all wept

today is a sad day. a sad day, indeed.

on the way in to work this morning, i saw the sun coming up over the bay. it was too gorgeous. of course, i was excited enough about it to want to take a picture. knowing me, like you all do, you know i had my camera with me. i pulled my camera out of my bag and turned it on. the card said 'memory full' and it turned off. that's okay, cuz knowing me, like you all do, you know i had another card. it hadn't registered to me that my camera turned off by itself.

i tried another card and my camera would not turn back on. i thot it might be the battery. i switched it. camera came on. YAY! then turned back off. BOO! i can not express in words how sad and mad i am right now. sad because... DAMN, that's my camera! mad because DAMMIT, that guy never called back to tell me if i still had a warranty on this damn thing!! of course, this was back in december. but still!

when i went to the camera store to buy a bag, i thot my warranty might be coming up so i wanted to check. the guy was pretty busy so he said he'd check when things slowed down and he'd call me later. trusting fool that i am. i left and waited for his call. it never came and i forgot about it. if it did run out, then it ran out in february. a while back. and i'm stuck with a rock that doesn't take pictures. if it didn't run out, then YAY! let's hope for the latter boys and girls.

wish me luck. =(

if i could turn back time

sing it with me! don't act like you don't know the words!

yesterday, i asked my mom for some old photos of myself. she has photos of the four kids, stacked away in envelopes (envelopes that she won't give us yet or do anything with them herself, but to keep them in an envelope). there's an envelope for me, one for S1, one for S2 and one for psycho brother. at one time, i wanted to scan all of them so she let me take them. solely for the fact that i would have all of the pictures on my pc and could blackmail anyone one of them, at any given time, if i chose to. (note: i have since returned them because i didn't have time to scan them all at that time and she asked for them back. why, you ask? so she could put them back in their enveloped place.)

looking through the pictures last nite, i was cracking up! can you say "ugly duckling phase"??? yeah, that was me. i was cute in my early years, say until about 4. then something happened where my teeth took over my face and i think i started getting home hair cuts. i did not blossom again until my sophomore year in high school. how i EVER managed to have a boyfriend in that time frame is beyond me. but i did. i have proof in pictures!

S1, however, was a very pretty child and she kept it up through school. she didn't have "the teeth" or the chili bowl haircut. she was always pretty stylish, except for that one time when my dad let us dress ourselves for school and she left the house with a polka dot shirt and striped pants! (GASP! what would the neighbors think???)

here's one of the pictures i pulled out, of many. i thot it was so damn cute. not of me, of course, but of S1. check out those chubby chipmunk cheeks of hers! pay no mind to the home haircut of my own that makes me look like a boy!

S1, my daddy and me
