weekend update/recap

friday - we took a half day off. me and a couple of co-worker friends of mine wanted to check out the early mardi gras festivities. they sucked. we hung out with Megan for a bit and met new vimeo user, Hal. he's a cool cat. he lives in the area, nice guy, retired, likes to sail. he started up the original Galveston Yacht Club. it was cool listening to his stories about how the yacht club came about and then the hoytie-toyties tried to take it over.

friday nite - we went to ikea. yay! love ikea. we found some shelves we want to get for upstairs and looked at some other stuff. afterwards, we went to Woz's for dinner. she made us lasagna and cheesy garlic bread. yum! we ended up staying the nite, after the wine.

saturday -
big day planned. first on the list: get home. second on list: get food. i stopped for kolaches - GAWD FORBID ME TO STOP FOR KOLACHES WHEN WOZ IS HAVING AN ACL TICKET/INTERNET BREAKDOWN. she called me on my way home, screeching in a frequency i could not understand. i got "ACL". i got "ticket". and i got "INTERNET DOOOOWWWWN!". ACL tickets went on sale and her DSL went down right in the middle of her purchase. she FUH-REEEEEKED! justifiably so. the tickets sold out in an hour and a half last year. they had already been on sale for about 30 minutes by the time i got home and got online. we got her ticket ordered. all is well with the world.

saturday afternoon -
S1 came over and CLEANED OUT MY PANTRY!! it's AWESOME! here's a little before and after. HM is bringing home the label maker so nothing gets out of place.
while she did that, Princess, her friend Haley and i made Valentine soaps. it was our first time making soap. noticeably so. we used too much soap and not enough color. the soap was too hot when we tried to meld it together, so it melted the embedded soap. it was okay for our first time. we scented it and shaped it and colored it. it was fun. i even bought Valentine "take out" bags that they decorated with stickers and other random stuff i had.

saturday nite -
we took the bed to the shack. Princess, bring your sleeping bag next time you sleep over. the bed is gone. blame your mom. she never bought the sheets for it so it went bye-bye. the shack aka Sunburn Alley needed it more than us anyway.

the new shack is awesome! it's gorgeous. i love everything about it. i love the openness and the kitchen drawers and the island and the
doors. yes, the doors. they're wide. love them. i honestly think the doors make it. we hung out with Papatom for a while then made it out to the island. we visited with Smooth most of the nite. we had fun, just HM and me. we're so lucky. we have so much fun together. we really enjoy each other's company. we can have a good time, just the two of us. it's great!

sunday - hungover. i don't know how we both got up and were actually productive yesterday. he was on floor duty; vacuuming and shampooing upstairs. i had the job of cleaning up the bedroom.

the stoop is completely cleaned off except for the sheets. we really need to find a place for those. but at least, now, i'm not ashamed to leave the door open when we have guests. which is a good thing cuz i hated keeping the door closed if the boys were in there. i felt like we were keeping them locked up and always had to check on them. now, no worries. door open always!

until next time, i'm sweet t and you're not.

p.s. i had video i wanted to show you, but vimeo is crapping out tonite, for some reason. sorry. it'll be up later this week.

who loves you pretty baby

i got a phone call last nite. from Princess. she was pretty psyched about her upcoming dance recital and the fact that she was doing a 4 Seasons song got her even more psyched (we're still on the Jersey Boys high). can you tell?

anyway, she tells me she's doing a Hairspray song and "Who Loves You" by the 4 Seasons. i ask her when her recital is and she says sometime in June. i tell her i'll be out of town then so i won't be able to go (have you ever been to these things? B O R I N G. not my Princess of course, but you gotta sit thru everyone else's kids things, too.) she freaked. she came out with all this, "Aunt T, you have to go" and "you didn't go to my last one" and "why don't you want to go see me". geesh. guilt trip much?

of course, i had to tell her i was only kidding. but i was actually smiling and feeling kinda good that she wants me there. warm fuzzies. she still loves me.

excitement

this weekend, WOZ is coming over for CRAFT DAY! can you hear the crowds roar? anyway, she'll be bringing her sewing machine with her so we can work on "packaging" for the jewelry i make. i already have someone working on a logo.

i really need to start taking pictures of the stuff i do, too. i made Mamalane a tiger eye necklace (that she LOVES!) and i made a necklace and earring set for a co-worker that she really liked. she didn't even pause. she just asked, "how much do i owe you?". those are the customers i really like!

so this weekend i also need to pick up Booger on Saturday and have him come rake the yard. 25 bucks to rake front and back, bag it, and put it on the curb. easy money. i think i might bring Princess back with me to do some crafting, too. i just photoshopped some pics that she might want to put on bracelets for her friends' christmas gifts. we'll see.

sunday, i have to go help S1 cut up stuff and prep for Thanksgiving day. she's being all whiney about her neck and her back ...wah. j/k! she does have the majority of stuff to do. i mean, with a 23 lb turkey... who the hell is she feeding? Jabba the Hut??? my back would hurt, too, from lifting that!

we're also having Thanksgiving at Commerce on Monday. my old apartment building. i've been asked to make my garlic mashed potatoes again. hey S1... some people LIKE the way i cook!! =p

that's all that's going on for now. oh, and Booger better earn that $25.

freeze frame

here's a video that marks my first jaunt into the stop-motion genre of film. in case you didn't know, stop motion is a series of photos that makes a film - the object of your pictures being moved only slightly per frame to produce the effect of motion when the film is played back, per wikipedia.

i've been wanting to do this for a while now and while it's my first one, i'd almost like to say it will be my last. well, at least until i learn some better software. it took me three days to get this all in and it still doesn't sync up at the end. because of the amount of pictures i had pulled in (over 650), it took up a lot of "working" space. therefore, making my pc run really slow. for what would be a two minute fix, took more like 20 minutes every time. ugh.

the subject is HATS. i made it for one of my contacts, Fuzzy Dave, who's always whining about everyone having better hats than him. =)

foggy christmas nite

last month, anybody who was anyone, had the distinct pleasure of being able to watch Princess in her school's production of whatever christmas story they could come up with. i mentioned it before, here. you know... the one where she was taken over by the "ghost of her mom's dast moves past"? that one.

anyways, now you can see it! check out her moves.

canned laughter

Princess and Addie have formed a new relationship in the last year or so. they share a room in our house, although Addie really had no say in the lime green\hot pink theme. i think she likes it, tho.

anyhoo, when Addie comes to visit, she also likes to visit with the princess. so we called to have her come over for a sleepover and maybe a movie. well, after waiting ALL DAY for her mom to drop her off, there wasn't time for the movie but we still took her grocery shopping with us and subjected her to showtunes. tunes from Annie, Cats, Rent, etc. Seasons of Love, from Rent, being the one i really belted out. Princess asked what showtunes were and what Rent was about. i told her we would take her to see it when she's 16. so, uhm, remind me in seven years, would ya?

being in the musical frame of mind when we got home, we went up to their room so we could listen to records. yes, records. she was actually pretty excited when i told her we put a "record player" in the room. you see, S1 got her not one, but TWO Kelly Clarkson records. two. that was pretty much the best song we had in the room so it got a lot of play. that and the fact that we were too lazy to go into the media room to get more. here is the outcome of that record and me being a video freak.

(s)Elf portrait day

Princess and Uncle HM

last nite was Princess's christmas program. something about "incredible reindeer" or something. i'm not sure. it was a full 40 minutes of christmas carols, kids messing up their lines, and big headed people getting in my shot. ah, good times.
.
Princess was the Blizzard Elf. don't ask, cuz i don't know. HM told her she was named after a Dairy Queen treat and proceeded to turn her upside down to see if she would fall out. he seriously thot he had hurt her, she screamed so loud. baby.
.
i have video of the program, but that's for later. they had some dance moves... well, not "dance" moves, but moves none the less. the kinda jay and silent bob move where you go side-to-side with the ghetto head. you know the one. anyways, she KNOWS that move. i taught her that move! and what does she do? she takes on the "ghost of her mom's dance moves past"! good god, man! not to say that the child has a whole lot of rhythm to begin with, but she KNOWS that move! she was totally cute, tho. i'll have to show it on christmas eve for everyone to see.
.
that should be fun... right?
