this just in!

i got a call from Addie yesterday, asking, "what's S1's email all about?".

me: huh? what?

S1 sent out an email yesterday, that stated:

Effective immediately, I am no longer employed with the City of Screwed Me Out of A Raise Way Too Many Times. You can reach me at my [personal email] or on my cell phone at 555-outta-here.

it's just a shame she has to leave a job that she really loves doing. a job that she was really good at. she was the go-to girl. people always came to her for help and she knew exactly what they needed.

too bad her boss didn't see it that way. her boss that thot she should keep her help and opinions to herself. to paraphrase Addie, "we don't value you as an employee, so sit down and shut up". i'm glad she's leaving. she doesn't deserve the crap she had to take.

the only question is, will she still get the sweet ass short-bus parking at her new job???

extreme makeover: blog edition

you may have noticed something new today. the design on my blog comes to you from the very creative, very talented, newly nuptialized Sam of sam's mad skillz. i had noticed on her daily blog, that she had been experimenting with different areas of photoshop, CSS, HTML, etc. i thot, "hmm, i bet she would know the dimensions i need, to create a new header... and exactly where to place it". so i delurked and shot her off an email.

she emailed me back pretty quickly, considering she was getting married THE NEXT DAY and said she would get right on it. i didn't expect her to actually make the header, but she went full force with it.. and who am i to keep you from your dreams? that is, if your dream is to make a new header and template for some HTML-challenged girl who reads your blog but never comments.

it looks GREAT, doesn't it? i told her that i wanted a palm tree/island sort of feel but not overly done. and that i wanted the palm tree for the "I" in islebehere. you can read about that little adventure, here. thumbs up on creativeness and colors.

i lurve my new layout! thanks Sam!

weekend update/recap

we got a lot done this weekend. starting off with the floors on friday. no, we didn't do them, but Home Depot sent some guys over to do it. they came on friday to lay concrete and even the floor out.

friday nite - HM stayed out for happy hour and i got some Tari-Time. i worked on some photoshop and played around with Honey Bunny's invitation a little.
it was a very peaceful nite. he came home with taco bell, so it all ended good.

1. concrete floor 2. prep 3. even out 4. new floor!

saturday/sunday - they came to finish the floors. don't they look good???? i lurve my new floors! i also bought a new tv stand that Woz so patiently help me put together. ain't it pretty? a whole helluva lot better than that ugly trunk he had it on before. it really did my tv no justice.

1. new floor 2 & 3. new tv stand 4. ugly trunk

we also started a new project. the fence project. we wanted to pull the fence back to be even with the house. we did. we laid bricks down in concrete so Ringo couldn't dig out. yes, i laid concrete. HM won't let me get away with being a "girly girl". he makes me do stuff. and for that, i still have "concrete hands". i've been putting lotion on my hands every five minutes, since.

we still need to knock out the middle part. that way we'll be able to pull the boat all the way back and maybe get the truck in there, too. we also wanted to put the hammock up. we didn't finish that , but i did get one hole dug up for the head-side post.

1. new fence 2. new gate 3. bricks in concrete 4. concrete hands

hopefully, we'll be able to put the other post in this week and i'll be able to enjoy it when i get back from Dallas on Sunday. until next time, i'm Sweet T and you're not.

svd - old favorite

a vimeo contact of mine is working on a project for school. his message was this:

Hey everyone! I have a project due soon in Field Production, and I can't believe my professor okay-ed this, but you can contribute! Upload a clip of you telling me about something old you own that you like too much to throw away. (bonus points for being really old, and for you still using it regularly) I'd like you to submit a shot of you talking about it, and then a shot of just the object/thing, highlighting some of its points you like, or that show wear.

some of you already know what my favorite old thing is (Shut Up, Addie!). watch the video to hear about it.

feeling nostalgic

i was looking thru some pics today. trying to find some for a project i'm helping a friend with.

i've taken A LOT of pictures!

anyhoo, i was looking thru pics of the team and all the rides we've done together and supported together. and then i started thinking... this will be our last ride, together, as a team. our cycling team is disbanding. =(

it's not like i ride anymore or even see everybody all the time, but i do see some of them. and we all keep in contact with our email group. we've been to each others weddings and seen each other thru births. well, i've seen them go thru births. have i talked about this before? cuz i feel like i have. anyway... we're doing our last team ride in may. the ms-150 Frisco to Fort Worth. we had enough money in the account that the CORE (me included) members were invited to join in and the team would put the money up for it. for lodging and the entry fee and the funds needed to raise for the ms society. how cool is that?

i'll be supporting this ride. as i do most rides. this one is new for us. we usually do the Houston to Austin ride. of course, it's gotten way too corporate so we stopped riding that one as a team. when it stopped being fun, we stopped supporting it. crabby directors meant no more midnite kickball and shenanigans. i mean, come on, they left the golf cart JUST SITTING THERE! like we weren't gonna take it? ah, good times.

i can't wait for this ride! The Flaming Goat is coming in from Cambodia for this! he's bringing his wife and his new baby with him, too. too bad Sharky couldn't make it, but she'll be here next year, at this time (well, in May)... Cinco de Sharky! they've brought CORE people out of retirement for this ride and i can't wait to see everyone. it'll be like old times. like our first ms-150 when there were only 13 of us. who would have ever known that by year four, our team would grow to over 300??? everybody wanted to ride with us. we were the fun team. we had tattoos and pacifiers (for virgins) and themes and cool jerseys and team spirit and we actually had fun!

i know i'm still going to see the people i want to see and i know it's not like we're just going to end 10 year old friendships because the team is disbanding. it's just that now... we're actually going to have to make an effort.

weekend update/recap

friday - totally got sucked in to one of S1's "parties". you know the ones... where they're not really parties, but she promises to get you good and liquored up so you agree to go. the crap thing was... i didn't even feel like drinking. of course, the pitcher of sangria i had beforehand probably didn't help much.

she made me order something from the book she had. pampered chef. now, i love me some kitchen gadgets, but dag that stuff's expensive! i could barely afford a zester in that thing! i did manage to squeak out twenty-six bucks for a pizza stone. to which i was then labeled a "cheapskate" by S1. ahem... i barely have room for all the crap i DO have, much less adding more to it!

i ended up staying the nite since HM was out and about and i made him stay in town after happy hour. he was fine. he had people.

saturday - HAPPY 6 MONTH ANNIVERSARY! i wanted to get a pedi and S1 needed a pedi. so, the two of us and Princess went. side note on these pedi places. do not take an appointment for THREE people at 1:00 and have only ONE FRIKKING PERSON DOING ALL THREE!!! gawd, that's frustrating!! they finally brought someone else in to finish S1. poor Princess fell asleep in her chair, waiting on us.

afterwards, we made the trek into town to get S1 some skivvies. over the shoulder boulder holders, if you will. what? like you've never heard of those? she came to me cuz i know where to get the good ones. i love my skivvy shop! anyhoo, we went to lunch after and then i met HM to go look at cars.

by the way, did you know that i married an 80-year old black man? HM wanted to look at cadillacs. yes, you heard me... CADILLACS. the first one ran good, good exterior, bad interior. the second one didn't run so well, bad exterior, good interior. he did not buy a cadillac this day. he's still looking, tho. i'll have to get him a fedora next.

saturday nite - after car shopping, we went to dinner. had some awesome fajitas! we really wanted seafood and to celebrate our anniversary, but we were both really too tired after all was said and done. it was a really good dinner, tho.

didn't do much after. we were going to watch a movie, but .... i don't even remember what we did. oh well.

sunday - went to Homes Depot to pick up some pickets and boards. HM is going to extend our fence back so he can fit whatever else he wants to, on the side of the house. went to pick Sadie up from S1's. installed XP on her machine. played around with Honey Bunny's invite pics. they're gonna look so good!

until next time, i'm sweet t and you're not.

i'd like to thank... all the little people

WE WON!

from the College Humor website:

A few weeks ago, we at CollegeHumor asked our users to create original sitcom parodies using the Burger King Stackers. After narrowing the field down to our favorite 5 videos, you guys voted, and a winner has been chosen! Congratulations to Wonder Woman, who sent in the winning clip titled "The Foreman's Basement." Wonder Woman receives a $2,000 cash prize from Burger King. Thanks to everyone who particpated in the Burger King contest!

click here, to see it for yourself. =)

because of your votes, and the cash prize, Sadie gets A/C this summer! poor girl hasn't had it for 4 years, maybe more. the dizzying heat makes me forget. i hope i don't get spoiled and she still wants to go topless sometimes.

i'd also like to thank those who made it all possible. for without them, my dream of riding in an Air Conditioned Jeep would not become a reality. so, thank you to my husband, the sweet and ever so loving, Handyman (who had the original idea for the background). and thank you to the best man, BA, for being the voice of Kelso and dumbing it down for the sake of comedic purposes. *mwah*

THANKS AGAIN!

then and now

like i said, Seth was in town this weekend. he brought some pictures from "back in the day" to show me. the one that sticks out in my mind is this one:

then
i think Seth (r) looks like a younger (maybe gayer) Tom Cruise (not that there's anything wrong with that!), while HM (l) looks like a less hot Marky Mark. Dignam, anyone?

now. before you get all crazy cuz i called my husband a "less hot" version of someone else... just remember that i love all things Marky Mark so even being in the vicinity of hotness that Marky Mark is in, is saying ALOT!

now
Seth has been working out, so he's lookin' good. my husband, well... ain't he sexy?

weekend update/recap

sooooo, Seth came into town after all. it was touch-n-go there, for a minute. i've only met Seth once and that was at our wedding. i thot he was a bit odd. HM said it was just cuz it was the wedding and everybody was "odd". whatever.

he's really not that odd after all. he's a really nice guy. i felt bad that the weather didn't pan out like we had hoped, so there was no boating and no chillin' by the pit in the backyard and no going to Mi Luna like i had hoped. as it was, my stomach was doing flips and i wasn't up for much at all. we kinda just vegged out all day. that's the part i felt bad about. Seth had never been to our place and i felt like we should have done something. it's not like BA coming over, where lounging is just expected and there's bloody mary's in the morning. the boys watched movies all afternoon and i played with some photoshop.

we did, however, manage to get out for dinner at Babin's. super WINDY on the jaunt from the parking lot to the restaurant. damn Kemah boardwalk and all the tourons! don't you people know when to stay home? dinner was pretty good, considering my stomach wasn't taking to anything too well, at all.

sunday, we went to a swap meet. yes, boys and girls, a swap meet. what is a swap meet you ask? a place where old men, rednecks, and mexicans gather to trade crap off or just get rid of it. complete with carny food (note: did not help the stomach at all).

Seth took off soon after, but not before leaving us bunches of Chipotle coupons. YUM! i love Seth. he's not weird at all!

p.s. i did not get to see Addie because she was being a little whiney baby and didn't want to come to the boardwalk in the "cold". ;o)

spd can you see me?

it's kind of a slow day. i really got nothin' to report. Addie's coming into town this weekend, to see Wicked. if i'm lucky enough, i'll be able to see her for dinner tomorrow nite. i really wanna go to Mi Luna! yum! but one of HM's friends may come into town also and he wants to stay around our 'hood and do local things. which is cool. the way i feel right now, i could be down for some local and not leaving the house kinda stuff. the more i think of it, the better it sounds. i could totally do that!
we'll see how i feel tomorrow.

get down tonite!

last nite, i had the opportunity to see a "dear old friend of mine". that's how my friend talks. he calls everyone his "dear old friend". i've know my friend, Riyad, for over 10 years now. and though i haven't seen him in over five years, we keep in touch through occassional emails and he remembers me for invites.

back in the day, i used to like to pretend that i was some sort of "high society" and that's why i would get invited to his "soiree's". i was nothing but a pee-on, who didn't even have business cards at that time! but it's fun to play dress-up, right? i went to so many great parties that Riyad either hosted or invited me to. formal parties. i mean, these people went all out! for a while, i had so many formal dresses, that co-workers would ask to borrow them for cruises or christmas parties, etc. yes, my dresses were that cool! =)

i'm glad i went last nite. i had a lot of fun. met some cool people. of course, being a school nite, i had always planned to leave no later than 9:30 or 10:00. it's a shame we had to leave so early, tho. it seemed like the party started "kickin" right when we were wrapping up to leave. good music from the dj... everybody on the dance floor. i'm sure Riyad had a very happy birthday!

listening to

since Addie has now ruined Regina Spektor for me. RUINER! i have now moved on to Amy Winehouse. i heard about this artist a while back, but was kinda reluctant to really get into. as i am with any new artist, because they pretty much all fail me. not Amy. i've been listening to her since Saturday, when Ryan B and i picked up her Back to Black cd. i know she's been around for a while. she's got a few imports dating back to 2003. but, like i said...i'm usually reluctant to listen to new music.

she reminds me of the 60's girl groups, except more "whisky-laden" than "bubble gum". she's got a touch of Nina Simone, which i totally dig. i lent the cd to a co-worker of mine. she said she reminded her of the jazzy days of Billie Holiday. i don't know about all that, but the girl is good. like i mentioned earlier; 60's girl groups. but don't expect "my boyfriend's back" type lyrics. her lyrics are a tad more "raw", for lack of a better word.

i'm gonna take it to my mom's today so she can copy it. i think she'll like the music... not sure about the lyrics.

GO VOTE!

YOU DO NOT HAVE TO REGISTER TO VOTE

i was asked to enter a video contest on collegehumor.com. seeing as i don't have kids or a life, i suppose.

anyways, i host all my videos on vimeo.com (great site, by the way) and one of the techs asked if i wanted to to submit a video for a contest they were doing at their cousin site, College Humor. what the heck, right? so i recruited Handyman and BA to help me. like they were doing anything else....???

the parody we did is from that 70's show and it's called, "The Foreman's Basement". i have to give my man and BA props for the background. great attention to detail! it was awesome. i didn't want him to tear it down.

okay, so go here http://www.collegehumor.com/burgerking and vote. FOR US! no need to check out the other videos. i already have and they're no good... j/k!

Thanks for the support!!!

christmas???

apparently, WMM has an AutoMovie feature i never noticed before. since i had so much footage from christmas, i decided to let AutoMovie do the editing. you put the video and the song, choose your editing genre (sports, music video, old time, etc...) and let it rip.

some of the footage, you've seen before, in previous christmas videos. apparently, WMM likes some of the same footage i do. it also likes JohnnyBowls a whole lot. he's in ALOT of the footage you'll see on both videos. it also repeats some. and it's blurry in a lot of spots. i did no editing. be prepared.

they are password protected *i don't want all the vimeonites making fun of me cuz i'm just now putting christmas video up*. password is christmas. i think the new AutoMovie thing is cool and i may adopt just cuz i'm lazy... and maybe do a little editing afterwards. maybe.

what makes a BFF?

what makes a person your best friend? i wonder, when people say things like "she's my best friend" or "he's my best friend", what are they talking about? and are they really being truthful about who their BFF is? do they know what being a BFF means?

some people say that their significant other is their best friend. i call BS on that. in most cases. there are people who claim they found their best friend in their husband or wife or boyfriend/girlfriend and though that may seem true. is it only because you're completely consumed with them and don't have any other friends? or is it because you really share common interests and goals... and secrets? do you really tell him your deepest darkest secrets? i think not.

i have run into this "best friend" phenomenon as of late. the whole, "we're best friends more than anything else". so, if you're best friends, why not just break up and come clean? instead of sneaking around and using your friends to do it!?!?!? as discussed last nite, with my BFF, i've become more judgemental in my years. i don't wanna be, but it's there. it really sucks, because you don't want to judge your friends. they're your friends! but when they're doing such stUpid things.... it's really hard.

i have one person i can tell those secret things to. at least one person i can trust to not run and tell her husband (*cough* S1 *cough*). i'm pretty sure she knows everything there is to know about me. heh, and she still wants to hang out with me! your true best friend is the one that will slap you around when you need it, who will roll her eyes when you've just met someone last week and say you're in love, who will actually laugh at the ludicrousness of coffee farts! and who will invite you to an Aretha Franklin show only to tell you it's in the middle of the week when you can't make it, and take her mother instead. now, THAT'S a true best friend!

weekend update/recap

this weekend consisted of crawfish and beer and beer and oh, painting. and beer. we got the media room painted the way we wanted. blue on opposite sides. we got one of the office walls painted (orange) and shelves put up. i think, tomorrow, i'll put things on them. i'll be so happy when everything is painted and put up the way we want. we need pictures in the living room. we need pictures in all the rooms. more than just the magnets on the 'fridge. i also need to work on the picture we want to put over the fireplace. it's a surprise, so i'm not tellin'.

tonite, i took my mom out to dinner for her birthday. she brought along the brother who was, surprisingly, not psycho tonite. it was actually a very pleasant evening. i tried to talk to her about converting her old vhs to dvd. she won't let me do it because she's scared she'll never get the tapes back. i think she's up for it, but now i have to stay on her to do it. which includes finding a place for her to do it, take her to do it, and probably pay extra for the copies i want. i have no problem with that. i just want her to do it.

i really got nothing else. until next time, i'm sweet t and you're not.

weekend update/recap

fun! fun! fun!

friday - boys nite out! me, B.A, K-pOOOp, and Ryan B all met up for the Redeye/G-Love show. ohmigod, that show was so much fun! of course, the boys wanted to get all up in the crowd so we were on the floor mid-center.

the music started and the shirt came off. not mine, pOOOp's. i don't know where the hell that boy thot he was.... ACL??? Redeye was everything i expected. mellow tunes with a little zeppelin mixed in for effect. G-Love had to have had the longest. encore. ever! it was more like a second half than it was an encore. i've got video and if i get time this week, i'll put it up.

after some dancing and singing and frequent restroom trips, the show was over and we proceeded back to Onion Creek. we ran into a couple that we saw at the show. totally wasted couple. well, the girlfriend was, anyway. they kept us pretty entertained, tho.

saturday - woke up to the screaming techno music that is the Chemical Brothers on one of the movie channels pOOOp left the tv on! also, open blinds did not help at seven in the morning! i couldn't close them because he had some crazy shite hooked up from his blinds to his radio antennae so he could get... Rice Radio...??? COME! ON!

Dry Creek for yummy breakfast where we chatted about home movies (these idiots actually counted how many times they each were in my "friends" video), the show from the nite before, the upcoming crawfish boil, and random stuff you talk about when you don't see your friends enough. oh, we also saw that drunk couple again. how random is that? uh, stalk much?

afterwards, went to FrAnika's to help out with some video stuff. little did i know, her laptop is even more archaic than my old desktops and have a really old version of WMM on it. no transitions, no importing of muzak, nothing. after about an hour and a half of frustration, i took the dvd and told her i'd do it for her. ain't i nice? (of course, you know that was for purely selfish reasons, but she doesn't need to know that). Hi Maris! =)

my Daddy was in town this weekend. Hi Daddy! i made him an AWESOME dinner (if i do say so myself) of rosemary lemon pork loin, green beans w/toasted almonds, and rice pilaf. of course, i put B.A. on green bean detail, cuz why have two chefs (him and HM) in the house doing nothing??? we watched Smokin' Aces, again. it's that good.

sunday - went over to S1's for some homemade cookin'. all the siblings were there. a few took off to see Honey Bunny's tournament. i didn't go cuz it was chilly and i'm a wus. anyways, they took FIRST PLACE in the championship and got to shave BIL2's head. the girls went crazy over that! i wish i had gone, just to film that, but as i mentioned before... i'm a wus.

dad left early this morning. Bye Daddy! i probably won't see him again until July, when me and the girls head out for Frisky's birthday. until then, i'm sweet t and you're not.

p.s. there were pictures that were saved on this draft. for some reason, they aren't showing now, so i had to delete them. =\ i'll put some up with the video, later this week.

spd ryan b

tonite, i'm going to hang out with Ryan B again. he's a kool kat! we're going to the g.love & special sauce show tonite. the opening band is redeye, who i've been listening to all week. they're kind of a cross between g.love and sublime. i think they're pretty good. i'm pretty excited about the show and getting to hang out with Ryan. i've been seeing more of him lately for some odd reason. either he has no friends or he knows my friends are flakes, so he's available. KIDDING *cough* Anika *cough* =)

here's a picture i took of us, i think, three years ago. we were watching Better Than Ezra at Mardi Gras, freezing our booties off but still having a blast!

p.s. i'm doing a little experimentation in photoshop

weekend update/recap

friday - what the hell did i do? oh right... we did a few things around the yard and then i took my honey out to dinner. slow nite.

saturday - got up and gave my baby boy a bath for his road trip. met up with Ryan B for lunch at Dry Creek. YUM burgers!! we even ran into Brad & Dana of the WUS's. it was good to see them and catch up and let Brad go on about his gay square-headlight jeep. ick

afterwards, we made the drive to Conroe to see Mamalane & Papatom and Granna. Mamalane made the best dinner! i love that she finds new recipes every time she cooks for us. and it's always so good. another good thing is that Granna is finally taking to me. i always thot that she was indifferent towards me and never really remembers me when she sees me again. i've really wanted to get with her about how to make her peach cobbler (because that's all HM ever talks about whenever i make my own). she told me that she hasn't made it for about 3 or 4 years. peaches haven't been good enough. bad winters.

we did, however, talk about the crust she had on her pecan pie. man, that's good stuff! i told her that i couldn't get my crust like that and she OFFERED her crust recipe to me! i couldn't believe it. i couldn't believe she was actually offering her pie crust recipe to me. that's, like, sacred stuff. Mamalane says she has the recipe, but it never turns out the same. i bet she left something out of it. KIDDING! anyhoo, we took Granna home and walked the house. i wanted to ask her for the recipe while we were there, but i figured she had forgotten, so i didn't push it. not so.

today, Granna called HM and was just over herself that she forgot to give me the recipe while i was there. she likes me... she REALLY likes me! =) i'll have to compare the recipe with Mamalane's and see if we got the same one. ;o)

sunday - made a trip to Target and got a few things for Mamalane's new laptop. new flash drive and wireless keyboard/mouse. got a few things set up for her and then made our way back home. i think Ringo Dog was ready to come home more than anyone. poor baby didn't know what to do with himself, without his bubba's.

that was about it. we really enjoyed our weekend with the family. it definitely needs to happen more often. until next time, i'm sweet t and you're not.

a march-december romance

so... i know it's march and it's been oh, three months since christmas. but that's how long it's taken me to put this together, along with other stuff i've been doing. it's not much. and i got really lazy towards the end, but here is "christmas in a flash". just a montage of things that happened and people i saw around the holidays. enjoy.

weekend update/recap

hi daddy!

friday - movie nite! friday was movie nite with Albert and Hildy. we made pizzas, had some drinks, and watched The Departed. all i got to say about that movie is, "YUM"! with all the hotness that is Marky Mark AND Matt Damon AND Leo DiCaprio~! geesh. i was never a big Leo fan, but DAMN! he makes you feel for his character in this one and that made me a new fan. plus, he just looked hot in his grunge-like self in this one.

the movie was good and i am so glad Scorcese got his just reward! he won the oscar for Best Direction. YAY! finally! i still can't believe he didn't win for Goodfellas... or Raging Bull... or Taxi Driver, for that matter! all stellar flicks. i didn't watch the oscars, but like a nerd, i DVR'd it. i wanna see the speech he gave.

saturday - did some editing. uploaded some clips. hung out with S1 and Princess for a while. a long while. she fed me, so it was alright.

saturday nite - HM got bored so he started painting the media room... blue. Anika came over and hung out for a while. first time at Casa De Sweet T & Handyman. it's good to see folks at our house. i feel like we're out in the 'boonies and nobody wants to "go that far" most times. she was in town for something else so she spared us a few, afterwards. =)

sunday - HM got up and washed the cars. pretty Sadie. we cut a board for a doggie gate type thing. you'll see it. we thot about what kind of shelves we're going to put in the office and how soon that needs to be done. we also need to paint the office. we have a lot of projects going on right now that we want to complete before the end of march. big goals for a short time. we have three weeks to -paint the office, -put shelves in the office, -put things on shelves in the office, -paint media room, -get one more movie poster for room (caddyshack, maybe), -rip out carpet in living room and replace with decent flooring for dogs, -then do some super duper cleaning and putting away in the kitchen. big tasks for three weeks, don't 'cha think?

anyways... mark the date. on march 31st, you can ask me how far we've gotten. until then, i'm sweet t and you're not.

because i can

i love Rocky Balboa. i love the story of Rocky. i love the underdog Rocky. i love how much Rocky loved Adrian. i'm not too crazy about the mullet Sylvester Stallone is sporting right now, but i still love Rocky!

we saw Rocky Balboa a couple of weeks ago. it did not disappoint. i'm not saying it was better than (the original) Rocky, or even Rocky III for that matter, but it was good. Rocky went out in style. MUCH BETTER than the crap he tried to pull on us with Rocky V. geesh! seriously, Rocky V was BAD!

in Rocky Balboa, he looks really big (recently explained by steroids he got busted with) with a really square head. kinda like the heads on Easter Island.

so anyways, there were so many things i liked about Rocky Balboa. i like that they brought back "little Marie" and i liked that they didn't have all the "hemming and hawing" between Rocky and Adrian while he was training. and of course i loved the montages! those are my favorite part! i can watch Rocky, Rocky II and Rocky III over and over again just to see the training montage and the part at the end of Rocky III where he jumps in the air after giving Clubber Lane the beat down. the music just adds to it. i love it! i just get happy inside, when i see that. did i also mention, i love the training montages?

i mentioned before about the love Rocky had for Adrian. he was only concerned about Adrian. never about himself. even after he got his arse whipped in Rocky, he was only concerned about Adrian. unless you've seen the movie as many times as i have, i'm sure you missed the last line of the movie. let me set it up for you: he's in the ring, calling for her and she's running up to meet him. going through a ton of people to get there. in the process, she loses her hat. when she gets to Rocky, the first thing he says is not, "i love you" or "ohmigod, did you just see what i did", because it's not ever about him when she's there. all he says is, "where's your hat?". in all that he's just been through, he asks "where's your hat?". because he is only concerned about her. *sigh* that's love.

two things i did not like about Rocky Balboa... the fact that Paulie kept calling him, Rocko. what the hell is that? Rocko? he never called him Rocko before. it was just, Rock. or Rocky. another thing is when Rocky gets knocked down, little Marie is in the crowd and yells out, "get up! get up!". bad move. Adrian did that in Rocky II, while she was sitting at home with Paulie and the kid. that was it. just those two. oh, and the fact that Milo did not have a big enough part.

weekend update/recap

meeting new friends and old...

friday - i accepted an evite from fellow blogger deja. her better half (BFF) was in town, another blogger, megan. there was also nessa, from sealy, and other friends. oh, and ryan B even made an appearance!

we met up for crawfish and beers and i am SO thankful Ryan B came! my jackass bank sent me a new debit card and de-activated my old one before i called to activate it. Ryan had to pay my tab. i've promised him payback at the G.Love show.

saturday - HM and i watched Smokin' Aces. a little reminiscent of Guy Ritchie. zero character development but plenty of action. i liked it.

sunday - i finally opened up my new toy, my usb turntable. it's AWESOME! the first 45 i put on it was "whole lotta love". it took me a while to figure it out, but only because i had something set wrong on Lappy.

i also got additional swag in the mail, from Addie, my new Ramones beanie and the 30 year anniversay edition of Schoolhouse Rock! i can't wait til she visits again so we can watch it together on "the wall". we're gay, i know. but it's so cool that i have someone to be gay with. well, besides my sister, cuz she's gonna be all over it [the dvd] once she reads this.

somewhere in there we took the dogs to the park and my husband beat me with a stick, but overall it was a good weekend.

is you is or is you ain't my baby?

in light of valentine's day, i thot i'd post a cute little vid, taken from YouTube. it's one of S1's favorites, if not her most favorite. it's a tom & jerry cartoon of a tune we still sing when we're being goofy.

happy valentine's day, Sis!

this is the WHOLE cartoon, if you wanna watch it...

weekend update/recap

BUSY WEEKEND!

friday - had my birthday dinner with a BUNCH of friends and got some suh-weeet swag! see video on right. i got some really cool stuff! what you won't see in the video is my new favorite best friend. THIS! i'm saving that for a video all it's own.

after dinner, we went to some hole in the wall and did some karaoke. funny, nobody else in the bar was. and we were using our beer bottles as mic's. okay, it was only me singing... but it was Meatloaf! and you can't ever fault me for singing Meatloaf!

i have no pictures because my camera battery "speedled" right when we got there. that one was for you, honey. =)

saturday - we got up early for breakfast. we had to get down to the island for mardi gras! it's so much better when you live there. but we still had a good time. HM, BA, and i made our way to a couple of parades, a couple of bars, and had some dinner.

we turned in for an early nite. good god, we were home at 9:30! i had to be up at 5am so i was okay with that. i would have had that eight hours, too, if i hadn't woken up at midnite, with a hangover!!

sunday - up at 5am, as stated earlier. had to get out to the 5th annual WUWU! this very well may be our last year to do it. it's a team supported training ride for the MS150. there was some drama in the morning, but we pulled it off... AGAIN. we've got it down. we rock! we were very limited on volunteers this year.

i'm sad that this will probably be our last team effort. i love these people! they are my friends, my family. see the girl above, on the left. that's kierstyn. i've known kierstyn since she was seven or eight years old. she's 14 now! a very pretty young girl. and i've seen her go thru all the awkward stages. the girl above right and the guy below right, i knew them when they were both infatuated with other people on the team and they're now married to each other! they make a very cute couple, by the way.
we've been thru weddings and baby showers and reunions. for a while, i saw these people more than i saw my own family. they were my life. they still mean a lot to me, but every one is going their own way. making their own paths. but don't think we won't be at kierstyn's high school games so we can scream and yell and hold up banners while she's playing in the marching band. cuz we will!

freeze frame

here's a video that marks my first jaunt into the stop-motion genre of film. in case you didn't know, stop motion is a series of photos that makes a film - the object of your pictures being moved only slightly per frame to produce the effect of motion when the film is played back, per wikipedia.

i've been wanting to do this for a while now and while it's my first one, i'd almost like to say it will be my last. well, at least until i learn some better software. it took me three days to get this all in and it still doesn't sync up at the end. because of the amount of pictures i had pulled in (over 650), it took up a lot of "working" space. therefore, making my pc run really slow. for what would be a two minute fix, took more like 20 minutes every time. ugh.

the subject is HATS. i made it for one of my contacts, Fuzzy Dave, who's always whining about everyone having better hats than him. =)

Addie: i know, that sucks. who am i gonna take now?

Addie: there's just no one else worthy

she makes me feel like a nah-tur-al woman!

spd he's my Handyman

on too many occassions, i don't think i show enough appreciation for my love... my husband... my one and only.

i know we had our rough times while we were dating. some people said we didn't "match". while others are surprised we made it this far. the ultimate in far-ness; MARRIAGE. i guess we kinda had a "few" disagreements. and maybe we had these "disagreements" in front of others. we're just two people who speak our mind when it needs to be spoken. we're really not ones to keep it in.

what i've heard, far too many times, are horror stories from my married girlfriends. "he doesn't take out the trash", "he doesn't unload the dishwasher", "why can't he just do it without me asking?", "aarrgggghhhhh", etc. and what i've realized thru all that is I AM SO LUCKY! my husband does all that and more! well, sometimes he forgets to replace the liner in the kitchen trash can, but a girl can dream, right?

but seriously, what others husbands do you know that cook and clean and does the dishes and cooks and makes sure his wife is completely happy? did i mention he cooks? i wanted to use this forum to tell my husband:

I LOVE YOU

I APPRECIATE YOU (even when you don't replace the liner)

I AM THE LUCKIEST WIFE IN THE WORLD

there's so much more that i wanted to say about him, but i'm not very good with the words. right now, he is glancing over at me with the cutest little boy grin (i call it the monkey face) that i am overwhelmed with feelings for him. i love my Handyman. i hope that what i can't express with words, i show enough through my actions. i love you, honey.

weekend update

friday - could we have had a more hectic week that made us want to go to bed at 9:00pm??? we stayed up long enough to watch psych and that was it.

we were supposed to go see BB King but it was cancelled, due to hospitalization.

saturday - HM went to work and i wanted to get up and do my vimeo portrait for another project. didn't do it. i wasn't feeling very well so i laid back down and ended up falling asleep. when i woke up, HM was already home.

HM kinda worked on our new storage room a bit and we watched some movies while i finally got off my butt and did my vimeo self portrait project. most are drawn, but i'm not as talented. here is my contribution:

Peika Portrait on Vimeo

there are so many talented people on vimeo. a couple of people did one of me, i'll put those up this week.

sunday - definitely the day of the storage room... well, when we finally got motivated. we put some of the floor down. dammit, the floor is the underneath picture. see our mini door? how cool is that? how talented is my husband that he could do all of this?

on that note, i'd just like to mention, here, how lucky i am to have him. i made him stop after three hours. his back and knees were killing him, i'm sure.

we watched the end of MI:3 and i can now see why people didn't care for it much. it builds you up, then lets you down. then it builds you up, then lets you down. just give me all action in an action flick. it wasn't all that bad, tho.

that's all i got, really. until next time, i'm sweet t and you're not.

spd rooftop

so i got involved in another project on vimeo. this one was a worldwide landscape project. since "250" was such a big re-launch on vimeo, yesterday... we now have 250MB of space compared to the old 30MB. LOTS MORE SPACE! anyhoo, since 250 was a big launch, someone decided to do "2:50" video. where ever you were, yesterday at 2:50pm, you were to video your landscape. i cheated. i went to my old apartment building rooftop. not that my view from work is bad, but i can't even open the windows here.

so, this is a still shot from my video contribution.

Thu Jan 25 2:50pm
one of the users is putting them all together (there are about 20 so far), when he does, i'll put it on here. if you want to see what i shot, look to the right, under "my vimeo clips".

vimeo rocks!

so, i've mentioned before about my video host, right? and how they're more of a community and /or family type and some of them have actually met. the users do fun little projects together and such.

the latest project put in the forums is the "vimeo portrait project". it was thrown up by user, PEIKA, who oddly enough, lives 6 miles from my Dad. the project is: Pick any user and make a portrait clip it can be done in any way be creative, pic, vid, sound however you want to depict them. anyways, a few people have already submitted their piece of the project. one of my contacts, johnbmx4christ, did mine! it's totally cool. it looks like he may have done it out of a LOT of cheerios. =)

Vimeo Portrait (Project) on Vimeo

i'm attempting one of PEIKA, but i'll have to wait for the weekend to do it. maybe something creative will be flowing by then. eek, the pressure!
